What
is a Ronin you ask?
Simply put, it is a Japanese word for a member of the Samurai
warrior class of Japan's medieval feudal period. He who
was once Samurai, has now in effect become a Ronin or a
masterless Samurai through the death or political disgrace
of his master. Thus he is looking for work and another master
to serve. He wanders the countryside of ancient Japan testing
his sword skills, which could roughly be compared to a 4
foot long razor blade against both worthy and unworthy opponents.
Through the use of Zen mind training and the Bushido warrior
code, they steeled themselves for whatever would come. Their
actions have come down to us today in the present through
the various sword technique schools and legends of loyalty
and bravery and servitude to ones master that are not equaled
to this day. I now present to you one such story, that of
the "47 Ronin" which in its telling, will show
you timeless qualities of honor, remembrance, ethics and
duty that the so-called modern world has forgotten.
